Faces of HFHK

Our Founders

The founding members of HFHK, Nicki Holt-Manandhar and Aruna Khadka, have been working together on behalf of orphaned, abandoned and at-risk Nepalese children since October 2003.

Australian citizen Nicki Holt-Manandhar first visited Nepal in December 1997 and promptly fell in love with the country and its people. Nicki returned to Nepal twice to volunteer, before finally throwing in her executive job in Australia to live and work full time in Nepal in June 2003.

Nepali citizen Aruna Khadka has lived all her life in Nepal and after finishing her Master’s degree decided to devote herself to social work. Aruna began working as a volunteer at the same organisation as Nicki in October 2003.

Since that time, Nicki and Aruna have worked hard to make life better for orphaned, abandoned and at-risk Nepalese children. To date, thanks to the help of a growing number of wonderful supporters, Nicki and Aruna have been able to make a significant difference in the lives of over 70 vulnerable Nepalese children.
